rtistic Director and Conductor Paul Hillier and the National Chamber Choir of Ireland present the premiere of Tarik O'Regan's setting of
Acallam na Senórach: An Irish Colloquy, both on a new recording for harmonia mundi and on the group's first U.S. tour October 13-21.
Acallam na Senórach: an Irish Colloquy is a substantial work for chamber choir, guitar and percussion based on one of the most important ancient Irish texts to survive the Middle Ages. It tells the mythical story of St. Patrick's exchanges with two of the last-surviving members of a band of warriors. The piece is a co-commission by the National Chamber Choir of Ireland, Peak Performances at Montclair State University, in Montclair, New Jersey and DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, in Norte Dame, Indiana where it will receive its North American premiere on October 13, 2011. British classical guitarist and sound engineer Stewart French performs both on the album and on tour.
